Gen-AI Assisted Program Evaluation Online Course

February 11-12, 2025

One challenge in mastering program evaluation in health professions education is the perceived complexity and ethical concerns associated with evaluating educational interventions. This course is designed to demystify program evaluation through a practical, systematic, and GenAI-enhanced approach to Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).

Participants will  identify the role of program evaluation in improving educational outcomes, describe a stepwise approach to conducting evaluations, create a logic model to describe the program of interest, and design GenAI-assisted evaluation plans using engineered prompts.

The course integrates rigorous standards and ethics in evaluation, and explores the use of big data and AI technologies to enhance evaluation processes. By combining interactive lectures, case studies, hands-on small group exercises, and group discussions, this course equips educators with the skills to effectively assess and refine educational programs.

Join us to gain insights from experienced facilitators on employing advanced technological tools and avoiding common pitfalls in program evaluation. Whether you're new to program evaluation or seeking to enhance your existing skills, this course will provide valuable knowledge and practical tools to advance your professional practice.

Mastering Curriculum Design and Review
A GenAI Assisted Approach
June 25-26, 2024
In-Person Two-day Course, Muscat, Oman

Course Objectives:

  • Articulate the importance of a systematic approach to curriculum development.

  • Describe the 6-step approach required for curriculum development.

  • Apply these steps to a curricular project.

  • Utilize Generative Artificial Intelligence prompts to enhance and verify at least one step of the curriculum development and review process.

Course Description:

Health professionals often find themselves tasked with designing educational programs, frequently without prior training or experience in this area, yet accreditation bodies require well-documented, evidence-based curricula that include comprehensive educational objectives, methods, and evaluation strategies.

The dynamic landscape of medical knowledge and societal needs calls for a curriculum that is responsive not only to current requirements but also adaptable to future shifts in patient needs, clinical practices, and societal expectations.

The " Mastering Curriculum Design & Review" course addresses these challenges head-on. It offers a practical, scholarly, and time-efficient approach to the application of the internationally recognized Kern’s six-steps for curriculum development*. This course equips health professional educators with the tools (e.g. brainstorming guide** and GenAI prompts***) to design and refine curricula that not only meet contemporary demands but are also flexible enough to adapt to future changes. This approach ensures that health professionals are well-prepared to deliver quality care and meet the evolving demands of their professions and society.

Educational methods:

The course adopts the experiential learning style where after an introductory interactive presentation for each of the 6 steps for curriculum design and review, participants will work in small groups on a relevant practical exercise using provided resources. These resources include a validated brainstorming guide and templates in addition to GenAI engineered prompts. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on their real-life experience and build upon what they already know. This will be supplemented by large group discussions and feedback on the presented tasks.
